CARNAVAL POSTER SHOW 2009
January 17 – February 7

For the third year, the South Austin Museum of Popular Culture hosts a retrospective exhibit featuring Carnaval Brasileiro and the fabulous artwork used to promote this mainstay of Austin's winter fun. The exhibit will open January 17 with a reception starting at that special South Austin time, 7:09pm.

Drummers from Acadêmicos da Ópera Samba School will start the event, and KGSR will be on hand with tons of radio station swag, CD giveaways and more. A. J. Garces has again created the poster for the 2009 Carnaval event, which will happen this year on January 31. Come on out, take advantage of the opportunity to get your name in the hat for some free tickets to Carnaval and to purchase a Carnaval poster.

Event activities will will take place both inside and outside the Museum, so please dress for cold weather, park on Collier, and walk over for hot beverages and our usual great snacks.

The suggested $5 donation helps support Museum events and projects like the current documenting of the posters donated to the Museum by Danny Roy Young.
